Stefan Burrows

The Story Behind the Work

Stefan Burrows is a Sydney-based landscape artist whose roots lie in the Far North of New Zealand. As a child he began sketching on scraps of paper; over two decades this early habit has matured into a lifelong dedication to painting.

Combining his training in architecture (Bachelor’s + Master’s) with an intuitive understanding of light, form and atmosphere, Stefan creates landscapes that capture not just topography but mood - places where colour, shadow, memory and environment intersect. Many of his works trace journeys across New Zealand and Australia, evoking both specific locations and universal feelings of place, belonging and memory.

His paintings have found homes in private collections worldwide - from Australia and New Zealand to the United States, the UK, Canada, China and Germany.

Stefan’s vision continues to unfold through his current Australian-landscape series, a deeply personal project responding to nature, place, and memory.
